Урок английского языка по теме "Superstitions and our life". 8 класс

Цель урока: познакомиться с суевериями, существующими в Беларуси и Великобритании, уметь рассказать о них.

Задачи:

  • Обучающие:
    • расширение лексического запаса обучающихся;
    • знакомство с традициями страны изучаемого языка;
    • введение лексики по теме «Суеверия».
  • Воспитательные:
    • повышение интереса обучающихся к изучению иностранного языка и стране изучаемого языка;
    • воспитание толерантности и уважения к традициям и обычаям англоговорящих стран;
    • воспитание этики.
  • Развивающие:
    • развитие межкультурной коммуникации;
    • создание благоприятного климата в коллективе и на уроке;
    • развитие творческой деятельности обучающихся;
    • активизация лингвострановедческих знаний по теме «Суеверия».

Today while going to school a black cat crossed the road in front of me…I was confused and I didn’t know what to do. What do you think what we are going to talk about at the lesson?

  • Do you get nervous when a black cat walks in front of you?

 

Look at the screen and name the topic of our lesson. 
Today we will speak about different superstitions and their influence on our life.

Match the phrases to form the sentences and match the appropriate picture to each sentence.

When you wake up on the first day of the month, you should say "rabbit rabbit" before anything else…

  5. if you spill salt (to take a pinch and throw it over your left shoulder)
  6. if you need to walk under the ladder (to cross your fingers and wait until you have seen a dog)
  7. if you say a bad word, (I will whisper “Forgive me, Goodness”);
  8. if you drop scissors (I will pick up them and touch wood);

 

It’s time to talk about British Superstitions. You are going to listen to the text “Superstitions in Britain". Take notes. Be carefully.

  1. It is lucky to walk under a ladder.
  2. Never open an umbrella in the house. If you do open up an umbrella in the house, it will either bring misfortune either to yourself or to the entire household.
  3. The number 13 is said to be unlucky.
  4. . If you break a mirror, it is said that it will bring an entire 13 years of bad luck!
  5. . If a black cat crosses your path that is considered a very lucky event in Britain.
  6. You should touch wood for luck.

2. Oh, I see. If you are so superstitious I wish you to catch 4 falling leaves,

to find a clover with 4 leaves,  to meet a woman with a pailfull.
