(P, W) Warm-up:

What is fiction and non-fiction story?

Explain to learners that they are going to read about non-fiction stories. Learners are divided into 3 groups; they should list the features of fiction and non-fiction texts.

 

Groups must divide features of stories into Fiction and Non Fiction (every group get the set of cards with features)

Has diagrams, charts          To inform       To entertain  Imaginary  Idea development  Person point of view  Character development language is stylistic   Has idioms, metaphors    Has colorful illustration    Contains a plot with a climax   Has main body, conclusion    language is generally restrained

Learners watch a presentation (slides) about legends and myths of Kazakhstan and they need to share their ideas and associations about the topic of the lesson

Do you know the heroes of romantic stories?

Did you like reading legends or myths ? Why yes, Why not

Have you ever heard about Alpamys Batyr and Gulbarsgyn?

Learners review the rule about degree of comparison of adverb

(I, P, W) Reading

Learners work in pairs. They read the text and do ex 2 at page 64  the textbook  They should put the events in the correct order. Learners of one pair can compare their answers with other pair.

 (I, W) Formative assessment

Learners work individually and read the text again. They should mark sentences  True/False .

1 Baibory was rich and noble person

2 He was very glad to get a child.

3  Baisary and  Baibory married  their children when they were little.

4 Baisary and his family moved far away.

5 When Alpamys grew up he wanted to find Gulbarshyn.

6 Gulbarshyn didn’t want to see Alpamys.

7 Alpamys found the gift from Gulbarshin.

8 Gulbarshin waited for Alpamys.

 

 

Differentiation: more proficient learners should give written explanations if the answer is False.

Listening task

Learners listen to the second part of the legend and do ex 5 p.64 (choose the correct words to complete the sentences)

Formative assessment- peer assessment (students exchange their works)

Speaking task

Students should express their opinion about Alpamys, Gulbarshyn, Karajan, about love and friendship
