- Today we have an unusual lesson that is why I want to divide you into 3 groups. Please, choose the pictures you like. (pupils choose the pictures they like)

- Now, students, we are going to read the text from the textbook. And work with the method of JIGSAW. First, I’ll give you the numbers of 1,2,3, and you will join into expert groups:

1)Students with the number 1 sit at the first desk.

2)Students with the number  2 sit at the second  desk.

3)Students with the number 3 sit at the third desk.

 

-Now, I’ll give you the parts of the text which I divided into 3.

 

Task: Read the part of the text and try to understand it.

- Now, students, come back to your places again.

Task: Explain what have you understood to your groups and make a poster with your team members.

TRANSCRIPT:

         What do you think it means to be healthy? Lots of different things affect how healthy we are. Including what we eat and how active we are. We know that all living things need food to stay alive. Have you ever wondered why this is?

 Can you think of a time you felt hungry? How did you make you feel? Perhaps your tummy rumbled, you felt tired or grumpy or maybe you found it hard to concentrate. Why do you think we feel this way when we are hungry? Well, just like a car needs fuel to make the engine work properly our bodies need food to be able to work properly as well.

 Today we are going to investigate what it means to eat balanced diet and why eating range of different food is good for us? What is a balanced diet?

 Do you think, it would be healthy to only ever eat a chocolate? What about if you only ever ate carrots? It’s very important that we eat a variety of food and we are going to find out why?

 Food contains something called nutrients. We’ll be learning all about nutrients. Such as proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Eating a healthy diet means that the food gives our bodies all the nutrients they need to work properly. As well as giving us lots of energy to learn, play and grow. Keeping us full of beans from morning till night.
