  1. OPENER

 

  1. Read the poem and say whether you share the ideas of the author who lived so many centuries ago. Can you explain why?

“50 years ago I often did without lunch so that I could buy books; I haven’t to do that now; but if it came to a pinch I think I would still prefer books to lunch. Enjoying books and authors has meant so much to me that I want other people, especially those now growing up, to understand this enjoyment and to share in it.”
