Урок проведен в 4 классе на тему Вулкан. Была проведена словарная работа после чтения топика. Выполнены ряд упражнений , чтения текста и вопросы-ответы.

Review Present Simple & Continuous

Use the PPT – Present Continuous V Simple to review OR the teacher may choose another way to review as students are in different places in their mastery of the tenses. IF using the PPT:

  • Review when the tenses are used
  • Have students share out loud, or in written form (depending on the class/level), the correct answers for each slides, while reviewing what animals do in winter.

  • Before students watch, ask: What natural disasters do we have in Kazakhstan? Do we have volcanoes? What countries have volcanoes? Etc.
  • As students watch – ask them to think about 2 questions: 1) What is a volcano? 2) What are lava and magma? What is the difference?
  • Go through answers after watching the video

 

Notes

 

  • Pass out the notes – print these in slide form from the PPT
  • Have students glue the notes into their vocabulary book
  • Go through the meaning of each word with the PPT and pronunciation. Get the students read and understand the short descriptions.

  • Pass out the volcano parts worksheet
  • Tell students to use their notes to label the volcano
  • Peer check answers
  • Tell students to color the volcano appropriately and glue it into their copybooks

Reflection: Why are volcanoes dangerous?

  • Ask students to discuss the idea of why volcanoes are dangerous
  • In their copybooks, they should answer the question they wrote at the beginning of class (what is a volcano?) Share answers.

Health and safety check

Put students into flexible groupings as they label the volcano parts. Also, notes may be used throughout to scaffold students.    

The students will be assessed based on their completion of the volcano label task.    

Lessons will be delivered in accordance with health and safety standards.
